Agenda

  1. Bell Ringer: List, Group, Label

    • List: On each card, write one example of note-taking, related to education OR related to the world outside of education.

    • Group: Group examples according to the purpose for note-taking. Think about the characteristics shared by each “grouping”.

    • Label: Create a label for each grouping. The labels should relate to the purpose for note-taking.

  2. Quickwrite #2: How would my purpose for taking notes affect what I would write down and the format I would use to write it down? Please write for the entire three (3) minutes.

  3. Focused Note-Taking

    • Take notes! While I introduce the 5 Phase Focused Note-Taking process, you will take notes.

    • Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle to format it for 2-column notes.

    • You will take notes in the right column.

  4. Applying Learning: Explain how the Focused Note-Taking process is like another process. Create a poster to show how the Focused Note-Taking process is like another process (i.e., building a house).

  5. Exit Ticket 8/28/23: On a sticky note, define the “why” of note-taking.
