Assignment: Imitating “On the Rainy River”
We are going to use mentor sentences by putting our own content into their sentence structures.…Mad-Libs style.
To imitate the first example, pick an idea—a “theory”— that you agree or disagree with.
To imitate the second example, pick something you very much are or aren’t—like a soldier, a scholar, an artist, or an athlete. Then choose “love” OR “hate” as your verb in all the sentences.
You have the rest of class to draft a personal narrative (real or fictional or in between) about a difficult decision. Try using the techniques we discussed!
You don’t need to include any mentor sentences, but you must include a semicolon used correctly. Please highlight it in your draft so I can check it!
